Wushu
Overview:
Chinese martial art, also known as wushu, is widely practised for improving health, self-defence, mental discipline, as well as for recreation.
Wushu improves one’s flexibility, speed, strength, co-ordination and endurance; it also instils discipline and respect for others. Learners of Wushu are expected to observe the martial code of conduct – to uphold integrity and moral courage at all times. This is aligned with the school’s emphasis on character strengths.
Target Groups:
Offered to P3 to P6 students
Objectives:
- To develop a better sense of balance and motor skills in beginners and to teach them the basic movements, which include stances, kicks, punches, balances, jumps and sweeps
- To identify students with potential for specialization in 拳,剑 ,枪,棍,刀
- To provide opportunities for students to participate at non-competitive or competitive events
- To develop students’ self-confidence and to inculcate values such as respect, teamwork, resilience and self-discipline
