Table Tennis

The Table Tennis CCA is a niche sport in Nan Hua Primary School which has achieved much success in Zonal and National Tournaments. The CCA comprises of three programmes: The Modular Programme; The Development Programme; and The Competitive Programme. The Modular programme seeks to introduce pupils to the basic strokes of the sport and experience some of the joys of playing within small groups. The Development Programme is designed for players who have demonstrated potential and interest in the sport to achieve a higher level of technical proficiency as well as to experience the thrills and spills of playing table tennis matches. The apex of the CCA is the Competitive Programme where pupils develop their technical proficiency to the highest degree, develop their mental skills in crafting strategies for victory, and experience the pride of representing the school in both team and individual tournaments. All programmes are run by qualified coaches and the commitment level ranges from 2 to 9 hours per week.

Beyond the technical aspects of the sport, the Table Tennis CCA seeks first and foremost to arouse and sustain pupils’ interest in sports and to provide a platform for them to discover and develop their strengths. Furthermore, engagement in these organized programmes allows the pupils to develop their self-confidence, a sense of fair play and good sportsmanship. Lastly, these training programmes inculcate and highlight the values of hard and discipline in order to achieve success in their chosen areas of interest.
